Event Groups are used as a way to group your events within the LMS.
This tool enables you to create a hierarchical structure with a main group and sub-groups nested within. These groups will then drive your reporting, and will also be used as a filtering tool on the front-end.
When creating a new event, the top-level groups must be set up.
How Event Groups Can Be Used
For multi-organisation systems - Event Groups can be used as a tool to split your events by organisation, e.g. -
For single organisations - Event Groups can be used as a way to group your events by content or subject matter, e.g. -
Sub-groups can then be added within the top-level groups to group the courses within each area by course content or subject:
Event Groups in Reporting
The Event Group also feed into the reporting within the LMS. Most reports allow you to filter down by Event Group, meaning you are able to get as granular as you need to in terms of the reporting data to get info on both top- and sub-level groups:
